About Nicky Lawrence

Following many years of primary teaching overseas, I finally followed my heart and undertook an MA in Jewellery at the  University for Creative Arts in Farnham.

Like the decorator crab, decorating its shell with materials from its environment, I  express in my pieces elements that have inspired me along my journey: tribal prints and marks, patterns, primitive designs, vibrant colours.

I work in metal and glass.  Currently I am Artist in Residence at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham.  I am continuing to develop my ‘Coralscape' collection,  a range of wearable sculptures, as well as working on my new collection, 'Vertical Reef', which comprises back lit wall sculptures, inspired by coral reefs.  My work aims to draw attention to the plight of the coral reefs as a result of global warming.
