About Nicky Lawrence

Following many years of primary teaching overseas, I finally followed my heart and undertook an MA in Jewellery at the  University for Creative Arts in Farnham.

Like the decorator crab, decorating its shell with materials from its environment, I  express in my jewellery elements of different cultures that have inspired me: tribal prints and marks, patterns, primitive designs, vibrant colours.

I work in metal and glass.  Currently I am Artist in Residence at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham.  I am continuing to develop my ‘Coralscape' collection,  a range of wearable sculptures, to bring attention to the plight of the coral reefs, exploring different patination (colouring) techniques and developing a series of glass vessels inspired by the coral reef.
